I had the opportunity to stop at a BW dealer and admire the new 170 Montauk (again). They had a new 2004 model on the showroom floor. I noticed that the trailer under the boat wasn't an EZ Loader. Does anyone know if BW has changed the trailer in their standard package or if this particular dealership has created a package of their own?

Allegedly the trailer came from the factory with the package; I doubt the dealer could do it but.....

for what it's worth...

I just picked up the 2004 MT 170 package and it did not come with an EZ Loader trailer. Right now, I cannot remember the brand of trailer, will have to check when I get home. I do have to say that it is a perfect fit for the boat and has the movable neck (not sure if that is the technical term), according to the dealer it is better than the EZ Loader.

Could you please post pictures of your new rig and trailer? I just picked up a left over '03 and my trailer is an EZ loader but I sure would love to see how the new '04s are setup and rigged.

Thanks in advance.

BigS, I'd be interested in a photo of how the cooler seat is attached to the console and the new cleats on the rear.

Thank you for the responses. I have been looking at the new 170 Montauk since it came out last year. I presently have a non-Whaler boat, and came within minutes of swamping (or worse) about 25 miles offshore of Jacksonville, FL last weekend. I really don't want my wife to find out, but I'm trying to think of ways to convince her that a new Whaler would be a nice thing. I trailer my boat from Asheville, NC to NE Florida regularly, so the trailer that comes with the boat has to be able to handle 15,000 miles per year easily and safely.

BigS, Congarts on your 170 Montauk 04. You think it is worth the hike in price from the 03? Excuse me for asking but I have been looking at an 04, with a Whaler top, swim ladder and swing tongue trailer for 25 K, do you think this is a good price considering what you payed? thanks. Sam

I read somewhere in here that one guys new 170 had a Continental trailer with swing tung. It brought up in a Nantucket discussion. Someone should be able to confirm this. People drive to Florida all the time to get these go deal trailers, so it makes since that BW would pick up on that.

Boston Whaler is featuring swing tongues standard on all 150 Sports, 170 Montauks, and 190 Nantuckets for 2004! It's a fact.

samwhaler -

I got the 2004 with the cooler, rod holders, swim ladder, and swing tongue trailer for around 23K. By the time I get done accessorizing it will be around 25. Hope that helps.

I haven't found my digital camera yet to take pics of the trailer, cleats, cooler, etc... hopefully I will get them soon.

We have a BW M170 03 with a Continental trailer with larger wheels and tires than the EZloader that was standard. It also has a swing tongue surge brakes and a wash out connection for the wheels and brakes, I had asked for these items because of the garage size exactly 20'. I have exactly 4" play with the 90 hp 4 stroke clearance for the door. I pull her with a Volvo V70 XC OR 02.

The only problem is.....every time you leave the house you see the boat and realize another has passed that she sat there.
