Hello,
I'm the new guy. I've been lurking for several weeks and after much deliberation, I decided on a 2003 170 Montauk, hence the name. We took her out today on her maiden voyage and it was fun but the weather went for the worst quickly and we had to cut our trip short. I hope I can be an active part of this group and I'll probably be doing a lot of listening and not much talking as this is my first boat eventhough I've been around them most of my life. I've got a few pics of the boat and also a few from the maiden voyage but I have no clue if pictures can be posted easily, any help is appreciated.

BTW, boat specs are:
Stock
-2003 170 Montauk w/blue graphics
-90 HP four stroke Mercury with SS prop
-Twin fuel tanks
-Galv. trailer
-Fishing package
-Custom moring cover

Added stuff
Attwood suspension motor support

I plan to name the boat "JD Montauk", what do you guys think of that name? JD is the first two initials of my only son, for now.

Also, I'm in the market for a handhelp GPS and I've been eyeing the new Magellan Meridian Color and I'll add a 64mb SD card with the MapSend BlueNav Navionics chart software. Does anyone have any comments about this setup or have any other recommendations for a color handheld GPS?

BTW, I already posted over in the classic forum while not realizing that I should've posted over hear. Oh well, live and learn...I got some good welcome replies over in the classic forum and now I need to give warm replies.

Thanks and I'll catch you all later,

David

As for the GPS...

I use a railing mounted Garmin Etrex Legend Mapping handheld unit. Perfect for my needs and a good deal at $132 shipped.

No wires or separate antenna...uses two double AA batteries and has a waterproof housing.

JD, Sorry man, I was trying to be gentle with the move. If you have questions though this is the place. I still have questions of the Attwood motor support, model # etc. Thanks Jim B

Jim,

Here's a link to where I picked up my motor support. I got it at BoatUS, the item number is 378606 and I paid $36.54. Thanks for all your help too.
