I have a1998 ventura 20 with the fish box in the floor behind the capt. chair the problem is that the rear scupper lets in a little water when weight is in the rear of the boat an it runs into the fish box (makes it hard to keep ice ) does anyone have this problem and what do you suggest

My in the deck fish box does not hold ice for long (2-3
hours). How long does anyones compare to that. I have a 1998 Ventura 20 ( Dauntlis hull)

I just used the in deck fishbox on our 210 Ventura last Saturday. I make my own ice by freezing one gallon jugs of water at home. They lasted the entire 6 hour trip, with an easy cleanup. I have my passenger remove the fish from the fishbox and hose out the box with the plug out just before I reach the dock, so that all drains out. BTW, the weather is hot here in NJ...90 or so.
They're working OK for me thus far. No water intrusion from scuppers at all. I have a 2005 model, and am not sure of the differences in my hull from yours, if any.

I have a similar situation with my 1999 Outrage, where water from my scuppers can end up in the fish box in the deck. I've found that keeping the scuppers clean, the fishbox seal clean and using block ice helps a lot. I think I need to change my scupper flappers, but I haven't been near the dealer in a while to pick some up.
