I have had a 22' Revenge with a 225 Suzuki for a number of years and I am considering getting something smaller. The mid 90's the local Whaler dealer had one of these boats displayed and it seemed like a good alternative; light, fast, good storage, for 2....any comments?

Can you test drive the 16 SL? That model doesn't get much respect on this site, but it has some good features. It was produced during the Reebok era and was stopped after 1994 for another dual console model. I have one and am pleased with it. It has more freeboard than a Montauk & its hull design resembles the Outrage's deep V.
It holds its resale value well. Max. horsepower is 90. It's below deck fuel tank gives you more deck space. The midships ski locker holds long objects handily. You can easily move around it for fishing. The windshield will keep rain from stinging when you need to scurry home in the rain.

Thank you for your input. The respect thing must be the reason no one was responding to my questions. When your the new guy, it is hard to know what is up unless someone breaks the code.

Do give the SL16 a test drive. That's the one sure way to see if it's the boat for you. Very few SL 16s were built & sold, so they don't get the discussion on this website that Montauks get.

I did a search, now I know what a "16SL" is. :-)

I don't know about the quality of the boat, but I have never liked the looks of that model. It doesn't look "factory-finished." The two consoles look like they were thrown in there at the last minute as an after thought.
