Well gang finally got a post classic to complement the '82 Newport we have in Canada...I plan on powering it with a 175 FICHT I just bought...I am concerned I have to put a bay extension kit on the motor because it is a 20" shaft... The boat has a 115 Yamaha on it now...Any set up ideas or prop ideas..

Congratulations, Scott. What did you get so maybe we can help w/power and props. By the way, I have a '99 175 Ficht with the '00 upgrades. It's on a 20' OR, and I love it dearly. Starts like a car engine every time, quiet, plenty of power, stingy on gas and oil.

Sorry guys...I bought a '99 Ventura 180...It was quite dirty and after a few hours of compund and wasx, it cleaned up real nice!!!By the way...the Maguires 3 step cleaning kit has my thumbs up!!! The product worked very well...One problem, the vinyl sat outside w/o a cover and has mildew stains through it...I have tried to use a vinyl cleaner to no avail...Any ideas???

I'm looking at a 1998 ventura 18 with a 115 evinrude. Do you feel that the 115 HP motor is too little? I haven't driven it yet but I'm worried that it's too small. 175 should do very nicely.

I had the boat out yesterday and I cannot give you an honest answer...This boat has been sitting and I dont think the carbs were doing there jobs...I only got about 4000 RPM's out of it and it was showing 32 mph.. I brought it back home and cleaned out the carbs and checked the compression (all cyl 110 psi) so I will try again today...Most of those boats were sold with 115's so it can't be too bad..Stay tuned and I will let you know!

I have 98 Ventura with a 130 Honda 4 stroke. My top speed at 5500 rpm is about 34 mph. I would think that a smaller and lighter 2 stroke may do about the same. If you have a fishing package you may want to install a washdown pump. The one I installed works out great.
