Is it normal for my Montauk 170 railing around the windshield to have considerable movement(i.e. it is very loose)? Can I just tighten the bolts from the inside of the console, or is this a symptom of a larger problem? I noticed this after a recent long fishing run in pretty rough seas. My fishing partner must have had a death grip on the railing. What are your suggestions??

I had the same problem after a couple of long runs in some stiff chop. After tightening up the screws once, I haven't experienced the problem again. All I can think is that they're not torqued down quite enough at the factory to avoid cracking while going over the road.

I had the same problem with my Dauntless. I tightened all of the small screws in the boat, including the instruments and most have remained that way. i do occasionally check and retighten the railing screws as they do loosen up and if left that way will wear a larger hole in the glass.
