I am trying to decide between a 170-MONTAUK, a 190 NANTUCKET, a 210 OUTRAGE, or even a 220 DAUNTLESS. Any comments re the 210 OUTRAGE would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2002 210 Outrage with a 175 Optimax and so far I love it. I have used it in the Gulf of Mexico, Lake Erie and Lake Chautauqua. rides well for a 21 footer. email me directly if you have any questions mturbessi.atg@westpa.net.

It is much more valuable to conduct a public discussion of these boats, rather than taking it to private email. That's what people come here to read about--Boston Whaler boats!

Bob, it would help respondents a lot if you'd describe the waters you intend to boat in (i.e. waves and depth), and what percentage of the time you'll be in each. It would also help if you'd describe the purposes you intend to use the boat for (i.e. fishing, skiing), and what percentage of the time you'll do each, as well as how many people will be along for each.

This is a pretty wide range of size and price, almost 2:1 on weight, draft, and price.

I just want peoples opinions of the boats.I'll be using it in the gulf of mexico, near ft myers fl.I will be keeping my fathers 13 for the flats fishing down there,so i am looking for something that can handle fairly shallow areas(2ft),and yet still be able to go a ways out in the gulf.I may also get it earlier and use it in the Chesapeake bay too,so those are two very different areas.I'm starting to consider the 22 dauntless, due to it's porta potty in the console, would make it a nice feature for the Mrs.(she's about 4'11",so she could do jumping jacks in the console lol)I don't think you can get a potty in the 210 outrage?

Bob,

If you are looking for a shallow water bigger boat then you are right, the 22 Dauntless would be more the speed. It is a V so it can work for you in the Gulf too. The Outrage is really a pure Gulf boat, though it does not draw a lot of water, it is for hard core fishing. My wife has definitely taken to spending more time on the water since we moved out of the Outrage and into the Whalers with the "Ladies" rooms on them.

There is only 3" of draft difference between the two, so the decision is simplified between these two aspects IMO. Ride vs Feature Comforts. The Outrage has a little deeper V and will ride a little better offshore, the Dauntless is more the entertainer fishing boat for light Gulf duty and mostly bay work.

Nevertheless, they are Whalers, both will be great.
