Anyone else see what the 04 montauk looks like if you get it with red trim? It looks great! you get a black and silver stripe with a red BW logo and a black sun top. It looks great!

Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. We searched all over for an '03 so we wouldn't have to have an ugly, hot black bimini. Of course, there's always Mills.

I saw a red trimmed Montauk yesterday at Twin Cities Marine. I truley do like my black trimmed 04 better. The Mercury 90 is a Saltwater Series on mine which seems to match the rub rail and all of the other black trim on the boat. My bimini top is dark blue, so I have the Mediteranian trailering/mooring cover to match that. The red trimmed 170 did have a black Mercury 4 stroker with red accents on it. Maybe that is why they had that one with red trim and mine with black trim.

My 03 model had the red trim originally. We had it changed to blue and the blue factory top was at the dealer. The blue top that I have came with a different boat that got changed from blue to red. So lots of people getting the colors changed.

Interesting 04 red and black combo. Jim

Personally, we've always liked "teal" or "aqua" canvas on white boats. Not traditional whaler though. Don't care much for the green in their past.

My 2003 Montauk had Blue trim and Blue Whaler Logo. I had a Dark Blue Bimini. No red at all. It looks sharp, in my opinion. I wouldnt have cared if the trim was red, as long as the Bimini matched

Think it's about time they offered a colored hull such as their new yellow 320 Outrage

A nice blue color would look great or even Red

I wish they would bring back the baby blue interiors in some models. With so many people getting so fanatical about the old classic Whalers, you would think the market is there for it. Would it be too much trouble for them to offer the blue gel coat again?

I'm with you on the colored hull. I have seen them in navy and that looks great! I also like the classic blue liner. Who knows they may just bring some of this around in the future.

My boats name is in the Same trim as the Whaler stripes.
I have the red as the color of my anchor chain. It it looks pretty Yankee and I get a lot of compliments. Except from Trash.

The graphics guys liked the boat so much they use at an example.

Poker 13. You can have the baby blue interior if you want it. Larry Goltz posted a wonderful idea about two years ago. He suggested that you buy new whaler from the CPD division. For a few hundred bucks (6?) you can have any color gelcoat you like.

Larry's idea was to create a brand new classic: An Alert with a baby blue interior. Outfit it with a console as you like.

Neat idea.

Yes, I remember reading about that--it's a good idea (if you don't mind shelling out the extra bucks). What I was hoping was that BW would bring the blue gelcoat interiors in their regular classic (legends) line as an option too (or maybe make it standard-- what the hell!). :-)

a few things:

Black biminis are not ANY hotter than a red or blue one, I have had every color including yellow on whalers and it don't mean doodoo unless you are 3 inches away from it.

When I totaled my Montauk I looked into a new 17 Alert with a white hull and baby blue liner. No problem but EACH color change is about $650-700. All alerts are standard grey and you ave to pay more for the white. So I then thought to leave the liner grey and do the hull in a light pink like the 72' Viking Yacht in their ads.....resale may suffer though with pink.

Good point on the top color/heat issue. I have a navy blue top and it is just fine.
