I have ever seen an official list of what is required in an 'Official Coast Guard Package" for a Montauk 170. Is an oar required? Flashlight? Is there a real list and does it differ from state to state? Up a creek without a paddle! |

As Ryan mentions, local jusidictions may require equipment in addition to that required by the CG. -- |

About your paddle, in MA you would need it. All boats 17feet and smaller do, but your state may be different. Check out the links, thats what I did :-) Good luck. |

In NJ it was 16 and under for a paddle so again it depends on state. Basically I would make the dealer throw it in as a "good faith" gift, kinda like floormats in a car. It is usually a few lifejackets, fire ext, flares, mirror, anchor, and a throwable device. If ya need any lifejackets I have 23 in my garage. |
