I am having a terrible time cold starting the 90 4S. I have to keep cranking,..cut off,...cranking,...cut off,....cranking,..cut-off. The bulb is pumped hard. It's almost as if the cold start auto-choke is not functioning? Can you manually choke the the 4S? Also, can you see the choke working (or not) with the engine cover off?

Any thoughts?

Turn the key on for 30 seconds, then crank. This warms up a device that allows more fuel to the carbs. Jim

Thanks Jim. I'll give it a try this weekend. It really was not a problem this summer but now every time I try and start it 30-40 degrees, it really does not want to start and keep running.
Was this something mentioned in the owners manual? I must a read right over it. Thanks again.

4WHALERS, Its buried in the manual. I read it several times before it clicked. It has worked for me. Let us know how it works in the colder climate. Jim
