I bought a 95 13 ft with a 48 hp outboard. The motor has a manual tilt.... my 46 yr old worn out back. Checked prices on a tilt/trim kit and it seems a little steep. Anybody ever had this problem?? What'd you do!!!!

The expense of the tilt/trim option was probably what caused the original owner not to get it, either!

An after-market accessory handle is available that claims to make tilting the engine easier. I don't have any experience with it.

My neighbor added the lever to her 40hp Merc and it seemed to work well for her. Allows more leverage without having to extend youself over the motor.
