Just checking on the quote I got from Shock Boats in Newport Beach, California.
Quote for $30K includes the following:
Base Package Boat with Mercoury 115 4-stroke
Pilot seat livewell
Trailer - galvanized, single axle
What do you guys think?

Im think it is a little on the high side. The base price on mine last year was $25000. Are the accesories you list worth another $5000?

Base price from the sheet for a 2004 is $28612. There is $1100 for freight and commissoning. The extras add $5141 according to their list. So that adds up to $34853 and so they are knocking off $4853 to make it $30K even. The trailer is $1795 but they are saying that my rebate back from BW will take care of that.

Wow they went up a lot in one year. Boston Whaler sells them as boat, motor and trailer package. This should mean that the trailer is included in the base price. The rebate should be given to you not them to pay for the trailer.
I would call other dealers and compare prices. I bet you could find one for less than 30k.

I also thought the trailer was part of the base price package, but could be wrong in this case.

For the 2003 models, the trailer was not included on the Dauntless, just on the 130/150/170s. I payed just a hair over $26K for my boat last spring with a 115-4, comfort package, bimini, and a trailer with brakes. You're adding the anchor roller, cover, livewell, and ski pylon, but taking away the trailer brakes (about $425). I think that makes your price about $1500-2000 higher than mine, adjusted for equipment. That seems a little bit high, but not outrageous. You're also on the other coast, which might make a delivery charge difference.

I bought my 160 Dauntless in February of last year but it was a leftover 2002 model (no notch in transom). It was $23,950 before tax with a Honda 90 (including $1000 rebate). Not bad since the Honda is around $3000 more than the Mercury and delivery charge to Hawaii is costly. The base price though did include the trailer. Maybe 2002 was the last year the trailer was included in the package.

As always, it would be most appreciated if the MARKETPLACE forum were used to discuss values and appraisals of particular boats.

for a listing of the 160 Dauntless specifications. I don't see a trailer listed as part of the base boat package or any options.

I have purchased three new boats from Schock in the past four years. Staring with a 13' Sport, then a 160 Dauntless
and now have a 180 Dauntless. Prices on the West Coast are a little steeper than the rest of the country. Schock has
treated me and been more than fair with my trade-in as
I have moved up in size. The cost of your boat seems reasonable when you consider the individual cost of the
bimini top and complete boat cover. Last year I bought
my 180 Dauntless for $33,000, with all your options except
the top and cover. My understanding is that there is no package deal directly from Whaler that includes a trailer.
However, this is better, the trailer you will receive from Shock is a Pacific Trailer, which is a far superior trailer to the one that comes directly from Whaler. My experience
over the years with the team at Schock has been extremely positive and would not consider purchasing elsewhere.

I bought a 2003 with the same setup, minus the livewell and safety package, for $26,620 before tax. I know the price change from 2002 to 2003 was 3%; not sure about 2004.
