Has anyone installed an antenna for XM Satelite radio?

If so, which one did you use?

And, where did you mount it?

What radio do you have installed now? My spouse wants a radio/cd player installed on our boat. I can't answer your question, but I'm interested in reading the answers that you receive.

Good luck

I have a Delphi Sky-FI with the boombox that comings with an antenna. The antenna is supposed to be pointed in a certain direction though. The marine antenna doesn't require the antenna to be pointed in any one direction.

There is a Terk & Antenna Specialist marine antenna but the normal outlets don't carry them. (Best Buy, Circit City). Before I order one, I would like to know if they are worth the money before I start drilling holes in the console to mount the antenna.

I have XM radio on my Chris Craft 35ft aftcabin. I have a home stereo unit down in the cabin that is powered off an inverter. I use the XM radio home antenna kit, also powered off the inverter. The home antenna works just fine. Just point the antenna straight up and you should receive good strong signal.
If you want the marine XM antenna, try Crutchfields.

Thanks Jim D:

I'll try my home antenna pointed straight up.

Definately do not waste your money on the Terk antennas, I have the Xm Sky-fi, with the boombox, but I have the cradle kit that I use thru my stereo on the Outrage. I tried buying one of those "marine" antennas , but they just arent worth the money, so I took it back. Any antenna will work as long as it has a fairly "clear view" of the sky, it takes an awful lot to degrade or block the signal. Xm is a blast for the boat , its nice be static free, with no engine interference!!!Good luck.
