I have heard an unconfirmed rumor from somebody that Nantuckets for '04 are on backorder, and all orders for the '04 company quota have been filled.

Does anybody know if this is true or not? The source seemed to believe that it may have been a sales pitch, but I am curious.

It may well be that 2004 production is sold out to orders for dealer stock. Doesn't necessarily mean they're all sold to individual buyers.

If you find a dealer who has some on order for future production and delivery, he's probably able to change the options on it to accomodate a buyer prior to its start of production.

Concur with Moe,

What he really meant was only 190's with Blue trim and 115 on back order...

Tactic to get you to buy now, called the panic buy... you hear it all the time,, remember?:

1. Sale good for one day only
2. Boat Show Prices
3. Only ONE at this price
4. I can't keep em on my floor....

I don't know about the Nantucket's but I was talking with my dealer and he said that his last M170 for the year went out the door last week.

It sounds like one simply has to shop around a bit, and maybe travel to find what you want. Some dealers may be out of stock and others not. I recently visited one Dealership who had a bunch of 170's and a couple of Nantuckets on his lot.

When I was shoping for a 2004 montauk in Nov. 2003, one dealer I spoke with only had 1 montauk allocated to him. I think some dealers are not allocated many boats - it's not that BW is backordered.

In the old days, one could go into any Dealership, and if they did not have the model/options you wanted they would special order it for you. Nobody let business walk out the door. All three of my last Whaler purchases were done this way, with about a 3 months delivery time.
