Seatrial'ed the 01 220 Dauntless yesterday. Loved it. Bought it. Did my homework and had mechanical stuff checked over weeks/months before now. Been looking at the Dauntless for 3+ years.
The prior owner was very meticulous and kept the boat well. Not a hole drilled anywhere and not a scratch on it! The only thing I could find was one a small gelcoat crack in the transom from where the starboard screw attached the paddlewheel.
One question. Looking at the 01 catalog, BW didn't offer raw water washdown on the Dauntless in 2001, but I was cleaning her up this afternoon and playing "follow the hose" and found a small Perko male outlet mounted vertically between the oil fill and gas fill. It led to the same pump that fills the livewell under the helm seat. At least I think that is what this pump does, but I didn't fill the helm seat livewell. It is identical to the pump for the freshwater shower on the port console. The original owner was not a lot of help since he didn't fish and the boat had the fish package from BW. He never filled the livewells or even used the portapotti. He mostly cruised. It sure looks to me like it could be the washdown outlet.

Sorry I can't be of any help on the wash down question duckear. Just want to say congrats on the "new" Dauntless.

Congratulations on your new 220. It is a beautiful boat.
Yes, that is the raw water washdown. When they revised the aft end in the 2003 version of the boat they have moved it to the starboard side of the motor well, but I remember the 2001 had it towards the center between the gas and oil fills. I believe that it was part of the fishing package in 2001. I think if you buy a new 220 today it will have the raw water washdown if you have either the helmseat livewell seat or the fishing package options. I believe that in 2001 the same pump was used for both the helmseat and the washdown. But if this was the case I am not sure how this worked, as to whether you needed to fill the livewell to use the raw water washdown, or if there was mechanism for switching between the two. Do you have two switches on your dash (Helmseat livewell and Raw Water washdown) or just one switch? In the latest incarnation there are separate pumps controlled by separate switches.

Interestingly, while factory installed, the switches are still labeled Accessory-1 and -2. One is for the freshwater shower and the other for the helm seat livewell and washdown. I don't see any sort of valve to cut off either one, so I assume you have to fill the livewell. I am on call this weekend, so it looks like it will be next week before I can get her out and play. I am thinking of naming her "Naut-On-Call" !

It is the raw water but I do not think that ACC 1 and 2 are not hooked to it. I have the same boat, but mine is new too so I am still working out such things. Has anybody sucesffully installed a FRESH water washdown, a much better feature in their dauntless?

I spoke with BW today and they said to screw down the spray nozzle in the helm livewell and that will shut it off and will divert everything to the raw water washdown.
