Will be picking up my new 13 sport in a few days. Do I need a motor support bracket? The manual says yes, the dealer says no.

It isn't any better here. Some say yes, some say no. I listen to the Mercury engineers, who say if you can't tow with the motor vertical with adequate road clearance, use one.

Do NOT tow with your tilt lock engaged. It doesn't lock in that position, so it can disengaged. To use it, you also have to tilt the motor up WAY too much.

I use a Fulton Performance shock-absorbing motor support bracket MBKRT shown here:

Thanks for the info. I think I would be better with one, I don't see a "don0side", so better safe than sorry.
