Well, "My Day" will be here soon:) I'm taking delivery on a new Nantucket190 Sat. Just delivered the Garmin 188C to the dealer for installation, adding bottom paint, it will have forward Bow Cover, Bimini, covers for the leaning post/w Live well, custions all around, 115 2carb., blue trim I'm pretty excited about dunking it in the water on Sat. and getting the run through with the dealer...Today saw a 18 DAunt. pull up to a dock..helped tie her down...had a 135 on her... and realized I had made the right the Daunt. is a fine looking boat, but has smaller stern area due to bench seat and storgae area behind that...for me anyway.........I am so up for this...."deam come true"

I was concerned only abit about the power, but the specs on the 115 2 carb. showed she does fine compared to the other motor options.

Ive gotton a lot of help from a lot of people here and I just wanted to say "thankyou" to everyone i messaged with, you were all a big help with options, motors, and the Nantucket vs another Whaler...

So if you see Nantucket putting along on Spa creek or going out from Truxton boat ramp...its me the Yiddil:)))

Now it looks Liek Ill be able to MAke the Teaparty and the BAy swim event:))short of a sinking...and we all know, they just dont do that!!! heheh

Saw a new Nantucket 190 on the lot of Nisswa Marine in northern Minnesota last weekend...had to stop and check it out. I've got to say, it is a lot more boat than our MTK 170, but any Whaler is more boat than the competition...have fun!!!

Just took delivery Saturday of my new Nantucket. I've been really happy with the decision. I also looked seriously @ The new Montauk &
18 Dauntless. This was an excellent decision....for me anywway. We took it out for an orientation cruise with 25-30 knot winds, lots of whitecaps & big chop. The boat did great! We tried again this past Monday & all went well with calm water & warm temps. I'll try to get some pics taken of the boat & post them here in the forum when I figure out how to do that from AOL.

OH! Thanks for the nice responses...Actually Im pretty calm about the whole thing right now....but when I see it...Im gonna have a baby! 12months ago, I couldn't walk after back surgery, wasnt sure Id ever again!Sold my old 20 ProLine and was really bumed!!I thought my boating days were gone!

So I quit work and started my com-back with my dream to have a nice CC and go fishing and Boating and never work again....and WHAM!!! Here I am 12 months later and its almost here!

I know you have to stop and look at that Nantucket if you see one...When I stood in front of the CC of one, I knew it was "DAS BOAT" Thats always been my call sign and the Nantucket is so named after that German movie about a submarine...she would go down! "Das Boat" So thats her name(The new Boat!)hehe

I must say I was impressed witht he 18 Daunt. I saw today as well, but my hearts with the Nantucket! Thanks Moe, all your explaining helped heaps:)Especially the info on the stats on the 115 2 carb vs the other Mercs...Doing 35-40mph compared to spending at least 5,000 more on a more powerful engine that runs the same speed helped me get the other thinsg on really wanted on the Nantucket.

Based on the estamite I have, the 6 cyl. Grand Cheer. will tow her just fine, cant see her being more than 4000lbs, and the jeep is rated for 5000.

Whaler told me they havnt installed a Bow cover canvas in a real long time and are looking forwar to seeing how she comes too! But I saw picks of another here so I know it will look great!

I report back on the tow, the ride, the canvas and anything else I can during this breakin period....thanks guys:))

Steve, You can't post photo's here. Not sure what you get with AOL for photo sharing but the best bet is Yahoo Photo. If you need a short lesson in gettng that setup follow my HowTo guide.

Allow me to add my congratulations Yiddil.

I've got a feeling you won't be getting a lot of sleep Friday night. :)

Looking forward to the inaugural report this weekend.

I had my new Nantucket out for the first ( and second ) time(s) this past weekend. I have the 135 Opti and was very impressed. The boat jumped on plane and handled very well. We went down the C&D Canal (Chesapeake/Delaware) had lunch cruised most of the day and burned very little fuel. My last boat had a 250 Merc on it and drank gas. This was a real nice improvement, besides not having all the noise and smoke!

The only problem I had was I went over at low tide and had to back all the way off the ramp. As she floated off the bunks got a little ding on the bow/keel. Second trip the tide was up and had no problem. So be careful at dead low water!

The 190 Nantucket that we recently commissioned on Lake Minnetonka in Minneapolis, was outfitted by Boston Whaler for the Boat Show here last Jan. It was shipped with the Merc 150 Optimax, Fishing & cooler seat Pkg, bow cushion, Suntop, leaning post & 2 pedestal seats incl. I couldn't resist ....& purchased that boat, which they stored for me until this past weekend. The Boat Show price & extended warranty on the motor made a very appealing package. A second battery with a mercury isolator was installed, console & leaning post covers, Clarion radio & spkrs, Raymarine Ray 54 VHF Radio, RC400 Chartplotter, & DS500x Fishfinder. Its a pretty nice package....& the boat looks great! Lots of get up & go to jump on plane. Fast!!!!
I traded my 14 Dauntless @ Windward Marine, here in the twin Cities, & this is certainly a major step up.....although we really enjoyed the 14 alot during the past 3 summers. This boat just gives me lots more options.
I'll work on those pictures.....& try to figure out how you get those links into the reply.

Congratulations on the new boat!! Quite a step up for you and one that I hope to follow some day.

I'm about to launch my "new to me" Dauntless 14 this tuesday. Can you tell me what you had for power? Prop? Motor height position? Doelfin or the like? Any general tips or comments would be appreciated. I'm using Tuesday to experiment with the set up (75 Merc 2-stroke).

I played hooky this morning, and went cruising in Barnegat Bay with an old friend (helicoptor pilot in the Gulf War). The winds were light and fragrant. The bay was calm. This was my third time out in the Nantucket, and she is getting smoother each time I go out. I varied the engine speeds often, and took the boat north through the Point Pleasant canal. We passed the NJ State Police Marine Division Headquarters, with its mini-marina chock full of older BW's (22 outrages I think, and a whaler 25 foot CPD cabin boat...not sure of the make).

I was bummed I didn't have my rods ready. My garmin 188 sounder showed 16 billion blues swimming all over. They were jumping out of the water too. The morning was just incredible. Alls I can say is that after a tough week in the world, and bumps at work, it was real wonderful to step back and enjoy such a pure pleasure. Whaler's are awesome. Whalers, Water, Kids, and Ice Cream. God Bless America. One Nation Under God Indivisible.

Kamie, To Funny!!! LOL

Well Todays the Day!!!!!!Im actually very calm about the whole thing, but I know the minute I lay eyes on her THEN, Im gona freak abit!!! Its been a long time coming! Her name is "DAS BOAT" after the movie..and "were ya going"? "down to THE BOAT" I just couldn't name her any other way...hehe Might change women and then Id have to buy new decals hehehehe Just kiding:)

Sea Trail should be interesting...2 foot waves reported on Chesapeake three of us, and Ill get to see how she handles a bit, both in the water and trailering with a 6 Cyl. GRand Cher. Jeep

Dissapointed the forward shelters not ready, but what can ya do...rather have the Nantucket w/0 shelter(for now) than no Nantucket...

Thnaks everyone:))

Enjoy the day and comment as quickly as you can.

We expect a full report when you get her home tonight. That is if you can tear yourself away from staring at her long enough to sit down and write one :)
tw. My partner wants to check out your boat. If I had gone new the Nantucket was top of my list. While she is warming to the classic she still wants to know what she is missing.
