How big is fuel tank on a 23 Walk-Around c.1990? How do they handle compared to the old design? What are the specifications? |

Not sure if they made a 23 or 25 foot version of the Walk Around. I believe that the 21 WA was made for a few years directly after the company was bought by Reebock in the extreme late 80's or early 90's and the 21 Walk Around was made for less than 5 years. Do a search for "walkaround" on the site and you should find all sorts of information, but the only ones I've seen were 21 footers. BW did make larger versions: That's from the first two pages of a search on "walkaround and 23" using the search function. Enjoy additional searching on your own. I also believe these were fairly expensive to make (and purchase). Backlash on the site also owns one...you might do a search containing his screen name as well. Finally, let me also note that the 21 WA is on the newer, "accutrack" outside hull and the 27 Walk-around is using the classic Outrage hullform, so they are very different boats. Dave |

[This article has been edited and the TOPIC changed. There were several exchanges discussing nonexistent model names and the confusion they created which have been eliminated.] The fuel tank on a 23-Walk Around was listed in 1991 as 180-gallons, but this carried a disclaimed that this was a design estimate. In the 1992 catalogue the tank is listed as 150-gallons. You can find all the specifications and models in the Boston Whaler Catalogue CD Collection, published by Tom W. Clark, and available at a modest cost. See: |

Both the 21' and 23' Walkarounds were manufactured from 1991 thru 1993. The 1991 Boston Whaler brochure incorrectly lists both the weight and fuel capacities of these Walkarounds: 1991 Brochure: 1992 Brochure: The specifications listed in the 1992 brochure are correct. To this day I am still amazed/puzzled at how they could be so far off on the weight figures for these two Walkarounds in the 1991 brochure! Dave, the 21 and 23 Walkarounds were never advertised as having the "accutrack" hull. I believe the "accutrack" name didn't appear until 1994 when the 21' Outrage was intoduced, followed by the 24' Ourtage. Interestingly, the 21 Walkaround's length is listed at 21', while the 21 Outrage is listed at 20'9". Both hulls appear identical, but apparently there is a minor difference. |

Thanks for all your help. I noticed the difference on a couple of boats for sale at yachtworld.com and I wasn't sure if BW made two different tanks for these models. Sorry about getting everyone confused and in a tiff, I just need to know what I am talking about before I open my mouth. Thanks again, Highspeed |

Actually no one is in a "tiff". There is not much value in publishing inaccurate and misleading information, and I generally don't archive it so it can be read over and over. |
