I'm trying to decide between buying a 2004 BW 130 or a commercial 15 alert. I like very much the 15 hull but I'm not sure if the difference in price or handling would make the purchase of the 130 a better decision. I will appreciate the input of the knowledgable members of this forum.

The pricing of the Legend Series boats with packaged boat/motor/trailer combinations has been set to a very good value, so it is no doubt that if you order a custom-built ALERT 15, add a motor and trailer, there will be a significant difference in the cost.
The 15-foot classic Boston Whaler hull was first introduced in 1976 and has been in production every since, a 28-year run, without any changes. This should tell you something about the ride and handling of that hull. It was the last Boston Whaler boat for which Dick Fisher was the principal designer, and Dick thought it was just about the perfect small boat hull.
There is a general rule with boats and many other products, which applies here: bigger cost more than smaller.
An ALERT 15 is the quintessential small boat. These days it is also somewhat of an unusual niche item.
