My 240 outrage hit the dealer this week with a Verado 250 and there is a transom mounted transducer installed that is used as part of the SC5000 Smartguage system. Mercury informed me that they don't recommend installing another transom mounted transducer that would be used for my Raymarine fishfinder. Said it could conflict even if mounted on the other side of the transom. A bit nervous about switching to a thru hull transducer for the FF. Anyone have any experience w/ a double mounted transducer? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The conflict is due to the transducers operating in the same acoustic range. Find out what frequency the SmartCraft transducer is using. Select a widely separated frequency for the other SONAR device, and you should be able to use them simultaneously without interference.

Thanks Jim...

The Raymarine Transducer for the FF is 50/200 and the Smartguage I was told is at 238.

Since the Verado is controlled electronically (steering, throttle, etc.), I just wanted to be sure that the concern isn't the transducer interfering with the smart controls.

I cannot imagine that the control technology of the steering involves any reception of ultrasonic acoustic energy from a SONAR transducer. My expectation is that control system for the steering is directly connected electrical control wiring operating at DC.
