Has anyone looked into a new Utility 17 from the commercial products division as an alternative to a new Montauk 17? I still love the lines of the old hull. I don't love the lines of the new one. I also like the many choices offered in options on the Utility.

I assume that you must take Merc power.

You'd be bettter off buying a used classic Montauk with te hull you want, and save a bundle.

Even after you spend the money for a 17 Utility your still not going to have a Montauk console or RPS.

I was in the market for a used Montauk and on a whim went to look at a new one not knowing there had been any changes. After looking at several used classics I was amazed at how much bigger the 170 is. I bought a new 170 and peeled all the new stickers off and it looks much better. I left the Boston Whaler on the stern. Saturday I passed another 170 in the water off Catalina and they look good in the water. The larger size of them makes them look odd on the trailer.

I'll see if I can get one of those disposable cameras that come with a photo disc and put some pictures up. It'll take a few days, the wife's got me doing home improvement today and I'll probably need help getting the pictures up. I'm not the most computer savy person on earth. I'll try to put up a post on post classics, something like
"mikeyairtime's 170 photos."
