Since Verados have automobile type power steering, what is the preferred auto pilot installlation for them?

Look at the Nautamatic Gladiator TR-1. It is an autopilot that uses a gyro rather than a linear feedback mechanism. Also it is the only one that works with the Verado system that I know of.

I thought the Verado's electro-hydraulic steering was
fly-by-wire, that is, the steering wheel sent electrical
signals to the steering system at the motor. That's NOT how
car powersteering works -- cars have a power assist to a
mechanical steering system.

Why wouldn't a Raymarine Sportpilot+ work? The drive unit juat mounts over the steering wheel shaft and under the wheel, and it turns the wheel for you.

Not sure if it would need the rudder position indicator, or not, but I can;t imagine it would be hard to set up.

Will a Sport Pilot work with a tilt steering wheel?
