Was at the local BW dealer and was told the 2005 Nantucket will have a 150 FourStoke option. Can anyone verify this. Sounds like it would be worth the wait to upgrade until after the first of the year.

That sounds like the new 1.7 liter Verado 150. Definitely worth waiting for, but the Optimax 150 will probably cost you less, since it is undergoing a 7% cost decrease as the carbed and EFI engines are phased out, and Verado takes the premium spot.

Do you really think BW would put a Verado on a value series boat? Is the Verado 150 the only FourStroke Mercury has plans for in this HP? Sounds cool but would drive the cost way up. Don't want to be test pilot for new model year engine. I think I will wait if this is the case, but that did not stop me in March of 2002 on a new model year boat.

Of course they will, and the engine will be avaiable in 135 and 175HP versions also. Why did Mercury buy Boston Whaler?
To sell engines, including Verados!!! Since when is a Nantucket a value series boat?

The reason it is being discounted [150 Opti] is that it is obsolete and being phased out.

On Whaler's website, the Legend series of boats (of which the Nantucket is arguably the flagship, at least until the Eastport becomes widely available) is described as "Each model delivers so much value that you’ll be surprised how affordable a Whaler can be."

I also wonder what a Verado might do to the Nantucket's price. Still, it'll clearly be a lot less than a similarly-equipped Outrage. If Whaler thinks the market is there, they'll offer it.

If they are going to put Verados on the Nantucket they are not advertising it in the new 2005 Boston Whaler sales catalog that I picked up from my dealer yesterday.

Standard - 135 Opti

Options - 115 4 Stroke, 150 Opti

The new catalog has the Eastport, and also includes a concept Conquest 235 available this winter.

A total of 19 different models are slated for 2005.
