For those who might be interested:

1) There will be no Whalers at the Newport Boat Show this year per local Whaler dealer. He claims it's become a BIG boat show, and it's hard to disagree.

2) There will be a 205 Eastport shown at the Boston Boat Show at the end of September. Should be interesting to finally see one in the flesh.

I'm not doubting you, as it sound like you have first hand knowledge from a dealer, but I would be very surprized. The Newport show is 'THE' New England show, and considering all the Whalers sold in the area both big and small, I can't believe that Whaler would pass up the chance to promote their product. There are plenty of 'small' boat companies other than Whaler that show in Newport.

I will be there Thursday, can't wait. Nothing like walking barefoot around a million dollar Hinckley.

I believe you are correct. I just checked the exhibitor list, and I do not see Silver Spring or Nauset Marine. I do see Surfside 3, but they are there representing Azimut.

I see Edgewater, Parker, etc., but no Whalers, how surprising, and disappointing.

I have attended The Newport Boat show for several years, & will also be there this Thursday. I am always excited to visit the Boston Whaler exhibit....& actually they usually have quite an extensive (out of water) display. I am really disappointed to hear that there will not be any Whalers in the show this year......& I also agree that its a big mistake, considering all of the interest in that part of the country.

I went to the Newport show last year and they had a very minimal display last year. I think the biggest boat was the Nantucket 190.

I was also there last year, & had a great tour of the Outrage 320 by a well informed staff. My Dad could not stop talking about it.....& he's been a Grady White fan for years. We also checked out the 21 & 270 outrage.

Was the 320 near the Nantucket? Don't know how I would a missed that. Last year's Whaler display at the Norwalk, CT show was a bit of a disappointment.

I've been to the Boston boat show the last four or five years.

Russo's puts on a nice desplay of whalers, have yet to be dissapointed. The winter one last Feduary they has a Nantucket, first (and only) one I've seen in person.

I quite sure that Russo took over a dealership in Wakefield, RI, which which gives them a "southern location".

That would make Russo the designated Boston Whaler dealer for the RI area, and not Nauset Marine.

Perhaps some Whalers will be on display in Russo's area.
Would love to get to Newport for the show.....but other priorities my win out.

Macfam-

You are correct, but I believe they still call the dealership Silver Spring Marine, which is the dealership you see right off 1 in Wakefield, near the hospital.

I was at the show today in Newport. Great show as usual.....but drizzly & rainy most of the day. The area where they usually have a fairly good display of Whalers.....was taken over by others....since Whaler was missing in action......Darn! I did not see a 320 in the water...although I could have eaily missed it. I was really hoping the get a chance to see the Eastport. Next time!

Russo did have a green 320 there @ Newport on the docks (I saw it). From what I understand, Nauset and Russo actually cover the RI area by just about splitting it down the middle. Silver Spring services south and west of Newport and Nauset to the east from what I understand.

I was also told from a relaible source that the 205 is supposed to make the Boston show.

I could be wrong though.
