Lookin for someone who has experience with a Conquest 23 and an Opti 225. I've found a boat I'm interested in and was wondering if the 225 offered decent performance with this hull? I know the 2001s were rated up to twin 150's. I currently have an Outrage 17 with an Opti 135, and am happy with the overall performance of this rig.

I had a 2000 Conquest 23 with a 1999 Optimax 225 for four years until I traded up for a larger Whaler.
I was pleased with the performance of this boat and motor combination.
The boat got up on plane quick enough to please anyone but a tournament water skier.
Top end was 31 knots with a 15 1/2 15 P Mirage and the boat cruised comfortably at 25 knots at 4000 rpm.
Fuel economy was good at 2.3 nautical miles per gallon.
The Optimax was noisy, doubles would probably be as noisy.
I worried about one engine letting me down but it never did and I fished and cruised all over the Sea of Cortez where there is no Vessel Assist.
I used Optimax oil and platnum spark plugs, probably a necessity with an Optimax.

Thanks. Good to know. 31 knots is respectable for a boat that size and a single. I will go ahead and make them an offer.

I have a 1999 Conquest 23 with a 1999 225 Opti.

I see similar performance as the others. It cruises well at low rpm with the 15p Mirage. I see low 40s (mph) at WOT and around 5100 RPMS.

The boat I'm looking at has a Mercury 17p SS prop on it. I see most of you are running 15p props. Is this too much pitch for this combo?

Depends on Model and dia. of prop.

Sorry, I don't have the time but do a search for 23' Cons or 225 MERC and I'm sure you'll get plenty of info.

There are quite a few prop experts on this forum.

Best idea is to sea trial the boat. It should run in the middle of wot rpm range, i.e., between 5100 and 5800 rpm. A guess would be 17 p is too much for the boat.

I'm scheduling a survey and sea trial next week. Seems like a nice rig. Any opinions on the '01 Conquest 23 vs an early 80's Revenge 22? It's my other option.
