Anybody got a template for building a forward platform for a newer (2004) model 170 Montauk? I'm thinking of one that would level the area forward of the CC even with the bow locker. I had a classic Montauk years ago with this feature, and found it useful in many ways: the added level surface area made sunbathing possible for the wife while I fished, or sleeping possible for me on those overnight trips; the under-area provided lots of storage space for stuff.

I'm thinking of building one out of king starboard or the like...gotta think about this some more, though.

Any thoughts?

I bought off e-bay a rear teak swim platform for $230. They range from $150 to $300 used. If you get it wide enough you can cut it to fit and refinish. Much stronger than starboard.

You can see some of it here: http://bellsouthpwp.net/j/s/jstachow/Homepa/Homepa6/stack6.htm

Mine fits on top of front railing and is bungeed to the inside front eye.
