Any advice on covers for this boat 2001 ventura 18. I have no luck finding custom/ semi custom covers. Only find is $850 mooring cover. This boat has bow rails.

I brought one from Overtons for my Ventura this year think it was about $200-300. Fits like a glove, use it for towing & has held up great. For the winter I made an A-frame and cover it with a heavy silver tarp from the home depot. Snow just slides right off. Jimmy

Try www.boatcoversdirect.com; I looked up your model and found two covers at $300.00 and $540.00 for the 11oz cotton duck and subrella respectively. FYI, I saved a few bucks by opting for the 11oz cotton cover on my '05 170 and it fits like a glove and is very well contructed. Since I store by boat in a carport, I just needed something to keep dust and dirt off it....BUT, the cotton cover is fairly water resistant and I have left my boat out when it has rained and the rain beads up and easily rolls off without penetrating the cover. My current cover is the 6th cover I have bought from this source and they have all been high quality with great fit. You don't have to "break the bank" so-to-speak just to get a good cover for your boat...$850 for a cover is completely rediculous for any 18 footer (in my opinion).

I paid about $750 for my custom sunbrella cover which went down to the waterline on the 21' Ventura I had.

I am looking for a boat cover for my 96 dauntless/outrage 20. It is a dual console with bow rails and I am concerned that the "custom" covers at Overtons won't fit properly over the rails. I notice that they also sell a tie-down kit. Does anybody know if the tie down kit is necessary to keep the cover on. I won't be trailering with the cover on but the boat will be in the backyard and exposed to occasional windy conditions.

Finally, does anybody recommend a particular cover?

Thanks.

Paul

I was lucky enough to find a 1 year old Fischer canvas from a Sea ray 21 sterndrive bow rider at a reasonable price, it fits my 97 Dauntless 20 nicely. The gentleman who sold it to me, said it was about $700 new. The 20 Dauntless needs a very large cover, I purchased a cover from WestMarine, it was labeled to fit up to a 22 outboard bowrider, and it was much too small. MartyD

Thanks for the feedback. Does the cover you bought have a drawstring around the hem to keep it tight without having to strap it down?

Look at http://www.boatcanvas.net/, Fisher's site. My cover has a drawstring, loops for bungie's at the bottom and a lace up closure at the bow. MartyD
