Would like to know the outside diameter of the rail that goes around the center console of the 170 Montauk, I recently placed a order for a new Montauk and would like to get a rail antena mount and other accessories while I'am waiting to take delivery, any other thoughts on mounting the antenna and radio appreciated!
Thanks MP

Mick, I had the same question when I was installing rail-mounted rod holders on my 170 - its 7/8"

I boat off-shore over half the time so I needed an antenna that would punch thru loud and clear from afar. I opted for an 8' Shakespear 5225XT and mounted it up on the right side front rail nearly all the way up until it begins to curve toward the center of the bow. That antenna looks massively large on a 170 but my concerns were more about safety than looks. I simply zip-tied the coax to the rail all the way back then ran it down and across the floor to the console. On the floor, I used one of those rubber covers designed for electric cords running over heavy foot traffic areas.

While my setup works well, if you don't go far from shore, you can get away with a shorter antenna rail mounted to the console rail. There are many threads addressing this type of install so do a search and they'll pop up.
