I have an intermittent problem. I have a Nantucket w/ 115 two stroke.
Sometimes the boat starts and performs flawlessly. Other times when I start, the tach spins 360" and the motor rough idles and sputters. have checked all connections bpoth pos.and neg. and all tach connections. Any ideas?
Boat is under warranty but dealer is busy this time of year. All advise and help welcome.

Thanks, the dealer suggested changing spark plugs and did not get my confidence.

I can understand your apprehension about the dealer. Clymer makes a service manual for the 75 90 and 115 Merc 4S. It helped me sort out the idle speed setting that was not set correctly by the dealer, and I did not want to give up my boat for three weeks.

ps- I'm not slamming all dealers, just one.
