JDMaples	posted 04-14-2005 11:33 AM ET (US)         Please advise on the best option for putting a kicker or trolling motor on a 1996 Dauntless/Ventura. Purpose - trolling for Walleye in great lakes area. I was thinking about the Yamaha T8 but is it too heavy and cause issues with plaining? Can a 100# trust electric on the transom move it along in a wind? What kicker/trolling motor brackets are the best?
20dauntless	posted 04-23-2005 02:51 PM ET (US)             I have the same boat as you with a 200hp Yamaha 2 stroke. I put a 9.9 hp Yamaha high thrust 4 stroke on as a kicker. It will move the boat at about 6 knots. I have no problems planing. The only problem I have had is the bracket on the engine cracked in half and had to be replaced. It was very thick aluminum too.
