Has anyone bought one of the custom (aftermarket) covers that fit the 170 Montauk (2003-05). I'm sure none of them are worth the money they charge, but has anyone found one that has decent construction? What Mfg.?

I have the Mills cover-- its expensive but worth it. It fits like a glove, and is very easy to put on and take off.

I hit the <enter> key too soon. I bought fron boatcovers direct after reading this thread:

It's a nice cover, but the tiedown system is awkward. Also, the cover leaves the transom splashwell exopset, to become a catch basin for everything that rolls down the cover. It's a good cover for the money, but if I had to do it again, I'd soend the extra and get the Mills model.

I bought the sunbrella version from boats direct as well but have yet to try it out.

I would have splurged for the Mills as the quality is excellent and the fit is superb, as i have read butr i was not crazy about drilling and attaching the mounts that hold the cover to the boat. It is still too new fo rme....When the cover i have wears, i will consider drilling for a mills. will have lots of scratches by then..lol

Good luck,

Alan
