3 foot stainless shakespeare. Put it on the Stbd side grab rail. Ratchet type. Works with Bimini and doesnt interfere. Good receptions.

I second Knot's response. I've gotten 15+ miles of over-the-water reception/transmission with a 3 foot stainless steel whip mounted on the grab rail.

I put my ratchet mounted three foot base loaded Shakespear on the starboard side of the console. It keeps the grab rail unobstructed and looks a little cleaner in my opinion. Folded down it fits under my console cover as well. I should mention I don't have a Bimini though. RX/TX is excellent, up to 20 miles depending on conditions of course.

I have not had any problems, however my radio is mounted below the binnacle (face plate pointing skyward) rather than behind the cup holders. This was to avoid compass deviation by keeping the speaker magnet 3 feet from the compass.
