What a beautiful day. My family and I took our new Eastport 205, The Adamander, on her maiden voyage. Wow, she handled the 1 to 3 foot seas as well as any smaller boat I have ever been on --- smooth and dry. She has a very solid feel, just like the 22 Revenge. She came up on plane quickly and trimed out well. I couldn't be more pleased.
But the best part was seeing the smile on the face of my 8 year old son -- he loved it. It was his first time on a boat. My wife and daughter used to go offshore fishing with my father and I on his 22 Revenge -- I think my daughter needs to get her sea legs back as she became a bit green. However, we all enjoyed a perfect family day on the new Whaler.

Jerseyboy,

Congrats on your Eastport! I believe you are the first member I have seen post on his Eastport. What engine did you get? How did you equip her? Where in Jersey are you from originally?

Hi Sal,

I am from Ocean City. We ran for many years out of the Great Egg Harbor Inlet ( one tough inlet ) and fished anywhere from the Great Bay to Cape May Point. I love Jersey.
I purchased the Eastport 205 in February. She has no factory options and is powered by a 150 optimax. I added an Icom VHF, Garmin 178C sounder/plotter and a mooring cover.
Oh, I also added the V-berth option for the cuddy -- that adds a bit more room for sleeping.
Hey, hows that Nantucket doing -- did you splash her yet this season?? Ahhh, nothing replaces the smell of that salt sea air.

Jersey -

Congrats on the new rig. Sounds like a fine day out on the lake.

Where do you launch - or do you have the boat moored? Waukegan?

Buckda,

Thanks, I decided slip that boat up in Racine WI. I like to just "hang out" on the boat now and then. There are plenty of slips available for short or long term stays.
Do you boat out of lower Michigan ?? I have been reading about your engine concerns -- hope you get that squared away soon.
Hope to see you on the lake this summer. Maybe we can meet up at some point.

Hi Jersey -

Yes, I boat out of SW Michigan, typically.

I think that the engine concerns, at least for the immediate future, have been addressed and I'll be back in business on Saturday morning.

I look forward to boating with you. If you trailer at all, consider joining us in Door County or any of the other Great Lakes area rendezvous'. I think you'll really begin to like this bunch of folks.

Regards, and congrats on the new boat.

Dave

Well, this is not very appropriate on a thread entitled, "A day on Lake Michigan", but I played hooky from work this morning and took a few hours on my boat in Barnegat Bay. She is splashed, and this morning felt great. Best of luck Jerseyboy.
