The fuel tank sender on my 18 Dauntless is finished. I need to replace it. Any suggestions on reliable sender out on the market? I want to stay away from the mechanical float type senders. What about better guages?

Guages are very seldom the problem.
The Teleflex and Tempo float senders are used extensivly by boat manufacturers and work well. They do quit working and a good bit of the time it is from corrosion on the wire connection. Clean the connections and see if this solves the problem.
If not resign yourself to replacing the sender every few years.
