Anyone have thoughts on the comparison between these two boats. Considering both for next year.

Keep in mind that the Edgewater 170 CC is a new model that replaced the 175 CC.

I have owned both Edgewater and Boston Whalers (15' super sport and 17 montauk). Both are excellent boats. I currently own an Edgewater 175 cc. The new Edgewater 170 cc is 1/2 foot shorter than the 175 cc and is not as wide, which gave up about almost 30% of the interior room. The new 170cc is similar in size with the new Montauk 170. Either boat is going to be great. Here are my thoughts on each.
Montauk 170 has full foam in true Whaler fashion and is totally unsinkable. However, it has external gas tanks (2 12 gallon) versus a 42 gallon internal tank on the Edgewater. The Edgewater comes with a lifetime hull warranty while the Whaler has only a 10 year warranty. Max horsepower rating on the Montauk is 90 hp while the Edgewater is 115 hp. Edgewater builds only 600 boats per year, while Whaler builds many times that.
My advice is to check them out yourself and sea trial them, then decide which you prefer. They are both excellent boats. The toughest thing for me in buying the Edgewater was selling my Whaler. Good luck

Just to let you know, the new 170cc is totally unsinkable also, found that out by accident one afternoon (oops). It is not filled with foam to the gunnels, but has more than enough buoyancy to keep her afloat and you/crew safe.....

Draftsman, can you pull the plug and leave an Edgewater like you can a Montauk?

Yep, that's what I said....
