Finished the initial overview, test ride, a little additional negotiating, and the deposit was put down on my new Montauk. The rest was held back until delivery.
My package consisted of...
The Whaler Dealer, who has sold them for 20 years, made a few comments that ring with the spirit of this site that I thought would share...
1. Of his current product lines, Whalers buyers are more knowledgeable about the boats that they are looking at than any other boat buyer. This site certainly proves that. THIS SITE SHOUD BE REQUIRED READING FOR ANYONE LOOKING AT BOSTON WHALERS.
2. Whaler buyers know exactly what they are looking for and what is available.
3. His typical buyer of a Whaler looks for a Whaler for an average of 3 years before purchase. (I looked around for almost 2 years) His thoughts were that Whaler buyers know that they are buying a boat that will "last a lifetime." I am sure that I will sell my 36 foot sailboat at some point, but I bought this one as a "keep forever" utility boat.
4. Hasn't sold many used Whalers in 20 years. "They (Used Whalers) don't need a broker to sell."
Anyway, just a few thoughts.

It would be an interesting poll to see how long people looked for their Whaler before they puchased.
I wish we could create a poll with voting on this site.
