After about 25 years of wishing, I am finally fulffilling a lifelong desire - my first Whaler. I am picking up a brand new 2005 150 Sport in Virginia with a 60HP 2 stroke Mercury. I grew up on Long Island and had a friend with a 1981 13 footer with a 35 HP Johnson on it. I loved that boat and have always had a wish to won one like it. Having two samll boys , I figured it was time to get them hooked on the water and fishing as my Dad did for me at a young age. I hope to get this boat and in about 5 or 6 years trade it in for a 19 foot center console Whaler as my family grows and more space is needed. We will use this boat in local lakes and on the NC coastal waters occasionaly. Needless to say, I have not had a moments sleep for about a week now in anticipation of delivery. Happy to fnd this forum - I look forward to learning from other Whaler owners. Everybody, have a great day.

Today I was lucky enough to ride along while Marc (Halibut Hunter) and his 10 year old son took their 17 foot Outrage out.

There is something moving and magical about dads and their boys on the water together.

You did the right thing.

Congrats, and good choice. Our 2003 150 Sport was a lifelong dream, too, and we enjoyed her for 3 seasons. As the family and needs grew, we traded into a 210 Ventura this summer, another gem of a Whaler. Enjoy!

Congrats!! Own a 2005 Nantucket (d.b.a 19 Outrage) and recently acquired a '68 13 Super Sport that I am having fun renovating, going to the internet and boat shops on a daily basis. Again, you brought a smile to my face as I see you and your sons fishing together. Best.

Welcome and congrats on getting the best 15' boat on the market. I have a 2003 150 sport and could not be happier. I should have made the move as you did and bought one a long time ago. Some free advice as you start to outfit the rig. One of my best purchases was an co2 auto inflate life vest. This (a stearns 3000) is very comfortable and effective. As you use the boat you will have more questions. You will save a lot of money and time if you look on the cw forum first.

Congrats on your 150 Sport. We are in our second summer season with our 2004 150 Sport and our experiences mirror every other owner of the same model. It's the best! I'm sure you've figured out the value of this web site. As you add equipment or are wondering about 150 Sport issues please feel free to post.

I've been a lucky guy, and over the last 40 yrs of boat ownership have had more than my share of boats, big and small. Sometimes several.

The fleet now consists of only one, the 04 Sport 150, it is a terrific choice and if I had it to do all over again, I would have kept my first 13' Whaler. Whatever you do down the road, keep the 150 you will never regret it, great boat.

Congratulations on your 150 Sport. We enjoyed ours immensely for two seasons until we got the 26' sailboat, and now the Whaler has sat in the garage this entire past year. One or the other has to go, and it will probably be the 150 Sport.
