I have a 1995 15ft Dauntless and would like to purchase and mount a couple of stainless steel rod holders on the bow rail. Any thoughts on the various brands (e.g., Taco, Attwood, etc...)? Bob |

CE Smith rod holders, the best out there, Overton's has them for $59.99 which was the best price I found I just ordered two more! |

I like the Lee's adjustable Rail mount rod holders. Expensive, but well worth it. I think Bass Pro still carries them. |

Not familiar with the CE Smith stuff, bur for years, the Lee products were factory suplied by BW. I have used the Lee Rail Mounted rod holders for 20 years now, and they still look great. Try Shoreway Marine for the best prices. |

The CE Smith adjustable rail mount rod holders are definitely Whaler quality. Big, heavy hunks of polished stainless steel. I used them on our 150 Sport mounted low so they'd fit under the Mills cover (also put a can koozie over each when towing to protect the cover). http://www.engr.udayton.edu/staff/lriggins/Whaler/rodholders.jpg http://www.engr.udayton.edu/staff/lriggins/Whaler/rodholdersClose.jpg bigjohn uses these on his 170 off Guam, catching a lot bigger fish than I ever will. The $59 price at Overtons is a lot less than I paid from Cabelas. http://www.overtons.com/modperl/overtons/detail/pdetail2.cgi?r=detail_view&item_num=70936 Just remember to use blue Loctite (242) on the center adjustment screw. -- |
