I'm experiencing some rust on the original fenders which came with my Calkins trailer. The company was bought by Carnai but when I ordered new fenders, it turned out that they were different than the originals.

My question is: Does anyone know where I could have the fenders glass beaded and hot dip galvanized again? Any idea how much it would cost? Trailer is set up with 13" tires.

The trailer is going to be used primarily in salt water (NJ). I've considered powercoating but I think re-galvanizing the original fenders is probably the better alternative.

Look in the yellow pages under Galvanizing. When I needed
to get the tongue extension for my trailer galvanized, that's
what I did. Expect them to be in a rough part of town. ALL
of the NorCal galavanizers were.

Acid dip may be a better way to get the rust off. Talk to
the galvanizing shop. And it may be necessary anyway.

NJ is a long way from home for a Calkins. But they have a good
rep out here where they are somewhat common.
