I wanted to add a 2nd VHF radio to my Whaler for safety reasons so I chose the new Phantom series PS1000. Fits nicely in a small space inside your console. Finished the black box and Digital Antenna portion this afternoon. I'll post some picutres of the command mic install later.

Outside install complete. Here's what it looks like. By the way, the clarity of voice comms using the speaker in the RAM Mic is as good as my external speaker hooked into my ICOM 502. Great VHF for boaters that have minimal console space.

Very informative post with good pix. How much is the unit, and can you use an existing Shakespeare 5225 glass stick? Thanks again. zotcha.

Does the handpeice/mike plug in - so that you can take it out after a days boating?

Yes it does. Has a rubber cap to protect it from the elements.

Nice job...I recognize that console, too ;)

I have the ICOM 502, and was initially considering a remote spkr, but found the unit plenty loud for me with the quieter Verado. I have the Galaxy, too.
