Greetings to all Whalers from Oz... several years ago I contributed to this forum when I was considering buying or importing a 170 Montauk... I actually didn't proceed with the BW but purchased a locally made 'Ocean Whaler'. Beautifully finished and high pressure foam filled, 18.54'long and 6.89' beam (sorry, we are metric !), 80 litre below deck fuel tank, and a SELF DRAINING COCKPIT !! - the latter was one of my serious misgivings about the 170 Montauk having to rely on a small pump. I selected the Evinrude 90HP E-Tec and it is excellent.
[Actually no 170 Montauks have found their way to the western side of Australia but there have been a number of 19' Nantucket and larger Outrages sold here from the US.]

The reason for the posting is that I used to discuss the problems living with bimini tops and light game fishing and fixed T-tops which made garage storage hard and huge windage on long road trips.... I planned, and have installed, a folding s/s T-top to overcome these problems. The Montauk(and Ocean Whaler)have the open 'square' foresection which makes folding T-top forward very easy.
If anyone is interested I will be happy to post some pictures on the 'wave or send them to interested Whalers.

I have a 2006 whaler and want some sort of folding hard top or canvas T top for it. Please send me some pics. I am not sure which to choose or where to get it. I live in san diego.

The concept of a sturdy, well designed folding T-TOP for my 18ft. Ventura is of great interest to me.
My current factory bimini top is ok, however a rigid top would provide a nice mounting surface (both under and above) for storage, electronics, lights, etc. Also, cleaning seagull crap off of a hard surface is surely alot easier and faster than trying to clean it off of canvas!!!
I wish Whaler would make a nice rigid T-Top for the Ventura!

GreatBay: Interesting. Is that boat up in NH?
It seems like its part of a pedestal seat too.
Might want to ride up to see it.
Thanks
