Hi Everyone,

I posted earlier about the Nantucket 190.
I'm also looking at possibly purchasing a used 2000 Outrage 21' with a 225 Merc EFI.

Both boats are around the same price:

NEW 2004 Nantucket w. 150 Verado + Comfort Package
PRICE = $32,000 CAD

USED 2000 Outrage 21' w. 225 Merc EFI + Comfort Package
PRICE = $34,000 CAD

Both boats have trailers.

What would you pick. The 2000 Outrage is in good (not amazing) condition. With a little TLC it could look new.

I'm having a really hard time with this.
Any opinions would be helpfull.

Haven't ever driven them, but have seen both. The 21 is a lot more boat than the 19, both in the good and the bad senses IMHO. Both beautiful boats. 21 is more of a true blue water boat, better in bigger waves, a little more space (?), more storage/fishing capability, more weight, more power required, more gas required, harder to muscle around when beaching, etc. Not really better / worse, just trade offs. So, I guess it depends on your needs / desires.

Does the 21 have any electronics on it? I think a lot is going to depend on what you are going to use the boat for. Also you may need to think about trailering(the 21 is a bigger/heavier boat). If it was me I would go with the 21. But then again I just passed on the 19 natucket for a used 20 Outrage.

Not really. The dealer is offering to swap out the existing engine (opti) with a Verado.

The 04 Nantucket with a Verado for 32 CAD dollars????
Thats a great price.Mainland had a hull only 04 last spring and they wanted 30 CAD then...that was too high, but your price sounds too low or too good to be true.
I`m a Canadian and I found my 04 nantucket in Minnesota, loaded and with a 135 opti all new last summer for about 35 CAD though that was when the dollar was .83 . Now its .90.
I really like the nantucket and it is more than enough for us. In bad weather I run and hide unless I`m coming in from somewhere and have no choice ( at least till I have more experience under my belt).
In the 21 you could be out in larger waves and be more the 21 would be better IF you go out in those conditions.
But...the Nantucket is really nice, more fuel efficient. The only change I would make would be to upgrade to the Verado or yamaha 150
and you could get the Verado right from the start... that would be perfect.

Just saw your post. Whats the upgrade worth if you don`t mind me asking, from the 115 -4 or the 135 or 150 opti.
Would cost me more as my engine is now 1 year old...
I`ve had Zero problems with the opti , I actually think its great ....but its loud and my crew (family) would rather have a quieter 4-stroke.

Saw your post and I just wanted to give my 2 cents. I just took delivery of a new Outrage 190 a couple of months ago. So far I have to say this boat is UNREAL! I was going back and fourth between purchasing a whaler and a lower level brand which would not have given me the whaler quality, but much more space.

I am so happy I chose the 190 outrage, the boat keeps me dry, I feel totally safe in it and the ride is excellent.

One thing to keep in mind:
I believe the max motor weight for the 190 Nantucket was 504lbs (I may be a little off). With the Verado being about 540 I would make sure that Whaler would keep the hull warranty in tact.

Let me know if you have any questions.

cchorer, Boston Whaler has increased the engine weight capacity rating for the Nantucket so there`s no warranty problems.
