I wonder how many of those are just annual registration data from the Dept. of Motor Vehicles, or whoever collects in your state? |

I think you are right. It shows 9 reports on my boat. I'm the first owner. I've had one warantee claim, and the a claim on the trailer (not the boat). But I'm not going to spend $35 to find out. I suspect they'd make a lot more money at $4.99 or $9.99. Chuck

I am 3rd owner on a 2000 Boston Whaler and it came up with the number nine also. I was so close to spending the money to see the report. I am glad to see that I am not the only getting a report on my boat. |

I am the second owner and I got 7 reports? Have not spent the money to see exactly what they are. |

I used this service a while back when I was looking for a used 230 Conquest. I searched about 8 boats on it and all had lots of records, most were good things except one which had an accident. So, I would say that it is worth it just to make sure you don't get hosed by the seller if you are seriously looking to buy a used boat. |

I came up with 9 records as well (looks to be the generic number, eh?). I'm the original owner of this boat, it has never had any type of claim/accident/fire/hurricane/damage/repair/ or shark attack. I would put this company and the product in the "scam" classification. There may be legit info for those boats that have some sort of salvage title or such, but it appears that they are trying to get money from folks whose boats have never had any damage.

From my own experience I'd put this in the scam category, too.I purchased a report that had 9 entries on it. 6 of the 9 applied to a completely different model and year than my boat. I immediately requested my money back since, at least at the time, they offered a 100% money back guarantee. Surprise surprise, 60 days later and no money back. Also no reply to emails or phone calls. Caveat emptor. |

To be more specific, my report showed seven records. These seven records were recall notifications from BW, only one of which seemed to apply to my particular model. Three of them were so nebulous, I didn't know what to make of them.If you dig around on their site, you will find a link to request a refund if you are not satisfied. Needless to say, I have requested a refund. |

I'll say the same thing about "Boathistory" as about "Carfax" - do not depend on them. How does Carfax know if your vehicle slid down the ramp and got flooded. They don't unless you told them. How does Boathistory know if your boat fell off the trailer because you did not hook up the safety chain coming up the ramp. They don't. They only have records reported by the authorities; not by repair shops or shade tree mechanics. Save your money. |
