Did anyone notice that Whaler revised / changed the stats on the website for the '06 170 Montauk? The now list it with a 13 1/4 x 20 Laser II prop and a 46.6 mph top end @ 6,100 rpms. Has anyone tried this set up to see if it in fact has that much of an improvement on the performance of the boat. I just had my motor (90hp 4S) moved up to the middle mounting holes and it is a whole different ride now. Less bow rise getting on plane and I can do a much better job of "kiting" the bow at WOT. And I have yet to get a reading on the GPS but I am sure that I picked up a click or two on the top end.

The change is due to the new engine offered. Mercury no longer uses the Yamaha Based 90. It is now a Verado Based engine. It uses the same block as the 135/150/150 without the supercharger. This engine has a higher Max RPM than the previous engine.
