Anyone replaced the OEM wheel on their 130 Sport with a stainless destroyer wheel? My original wheel is about 13.5 inches, and I'm wondering if a 15 in. in stainless is the closest replacement.

Whoops.. found a Schmitt 13.5 in. 22-degree destroyer wheel for $54.95... Is that the right one? Boaters World # 1721321R?

I have a 130 Sport and the 3 spoke black plastic steering wheel has been upside down since it was new.

The dealer replaced it with a stainless steel destroyer type 5 spoke wheel like the one on the 19' Outrage. It's a 15" wheel but it looks great and feels great. The dealer said it a simple change out since both wheels fasten to the steering shaft in the same manner.

Skred,

I also just down sized. I sold my 170 Montauk and purchased a 130 Sport so I can better navigate the waters of the Northern Wisconsin Lakes. I really want a new stainless wheel for it. Can you please provide me the info on the one you bought and where I can find one. How does it fit?

Thanks,

This is a really easy job. To remove the Whaler wheel, you:
- remove the screws holding on the center-cover. The screws are attached to the back of the wheel. There are 3 of them.
- remove the center cover
- get yourself a socket that fits the center nut you've just uncovered and remove it

- installation of the new wheel is as simple as inserting it onto the shaft and installing the new nut that comes w/the wheel.

I bought a 15" stainless wheel from "west marine product" and love it. I think the dish is 20deg -- not sure. The key is the 3/4" tapered shaft.

Defender.com sells the 15" Schmitt SS 5 spoke 22degree wheel for $50, or the foam covered one for about $55.

As long as it's a 3/4" tapered shaft wheel just about any one will fit.
