Mounting a kicker on 19’ 1996 Outrage

I want to mount a 10HP 4 stroke kicker on my 19’ 1996 Outrage for trolling.
The main engine is a 225HP 2 stroke.
Does anyone have experience with a similar setup? Do I need to mount the kicker on the transom or is mounting it on the swim platform okay? I tried to search for previous posts on this topic without success. If it has been discussed before, redirect me to the old posting.

I have a 1996 20 Dauntless which uses the same hull as your Outrage. I have a Yamaha T9.9 mounted on an OMC bracket on the starboard side of the transom. The OMC bracket has worked out ok, but the Yamaha mount integrated into the motor has now broken twice. I think this is because of a combination of the heavy weight of the engine, brackets that allow bouncing, and a captain that doesn't slow down enough for waves and wakes. If you find a way to mount a kicker so that it doesnt constantly bounce, let me know. Some pictures of the broken mount are below.

Thanks for your comments. Your mounting seems more applicable. I would not expect the Yamaha motor mount casting to crack. The previous example with the 22’ Outrage transom, has a much wider transom opening for mounting engines. If I could mount the kicker over the top of my transom as shown in the reference section, it would interfere with the seat. I am looking for an attachment method that allows the kicker to be tilted up when not in use. Does that work with your OMC bracket? Hopefully someone with the same hull has got this figured out.

I wish the kicker could be mounted on the transom next to the main motor, but on our boats there is not enough space. The way mine is set up is that the OMC bracket lowers and the kicker is tilted down while running, and the OMC bracket is raised and the kicker is tilted up when not in use. Unfortunately, the kicker bounces wildly when it gets rough, and that bouncing has caused the motor mount casting to crack twice now. I don't use the kicker that much, and am seriously thinking about selling it and not having to worry about it breaking again. I think the problem is that when the Yamaha is raised it is simply resting on a pin going across and there is some play above that which allows the engine to swing and bounce and eventually break the motor mount. I put the best picture i could find of it on photobucket.

What length is the kicker? I am also looking to purchase one, how much do you want? Send me an email.
