FYI here is my experience, check if you have a fiberglass tank:Apparently at least fuel sold in New Jersey has ethanol in it as of this season (2006). Running less then 7 gallons of this new fuel formula in my 1995 Dauntless in June has resulted in $3000.00 damage and loss of the boat for most of the summer. Symptoms were motor not idling properly and dying on acceleration.
It took cleaning the 3 carbeurators 3 times before identifying the problem, resulting in an in-line micron filter, a replacement Pate fiberglass fuel tank (ethanol-proof, 530.00 alone) and one new carbeurator.
I have a 1995 Yamaha 50hp and was skeptical that the damage could come on so quickly, but there you have it...
