I decided to take my 170 out for one last run on lake michigan on Thanksgiving day.I have not taken the boat out since the end of August so I wanted to run som fresh gas and sta-bil through the engine. The EFI engine started easily on the first try and idled smoothly.

I launched at 9am at waukegan harbor. It was 45 degrees-the same temp as the water. No clouds and 5kt SE wind. I was so glad that I went out as I was not at all cold.

It is a lot easier to see the interesting houses on the lake shore when there are no leaves on the trees.

Right behind me as I exited the harbor was the 650' bulk carrier ship SAM LAUD. Google it and you will find some interesting facts about it and its parent company GATX) that owns a lot of great lakes ships.

As I returned to the harbor I was surprised to see some waterfowl hunters laying on their backs in kayak type boats surrounded by decoys. I never knew that there were hunters out there. At first I started approaching them thinking that they were capsised boats and one of them sat up and waved me off.

There is always something interesting to see on a cruise on Lake Michigan.
