[Have either an Outrage 28 or an Outrage 29] been re-powered with a four-stroke outboard motor from 250-HP to 300-HP? [Give] any comments good or bad. Thanks in advance

Re-powered with Yamaha F250's. Significantly better performance when powering up. Fuel burn may be a little higher than the Mercury OptiMax, but the extra 50-HP makes a difference. Also, much, much quieter. Bullets tend to touch the water with engines up but it is insignificant. Extra weight seems to make no difference.

Appreciate that info but disappointed to hear of more fuel burn. I probable get 1mpg on my 2002 with opti 225's or around 22 gal/hr at cruise. I guess thats why it has 300 gals. What kind of fuel burn do you get?

I would also check out the Suzuki 250 or 300. I repowering my ventura 210 with a 250.

300 Suzuki still has not been released to the General public as far as i can tell, even though it was displayed at last years Miami boat show,so that might not even be a real world option. There are some very good rumors that the Verado will be at or above the 300hp mark this year and will probably be available shortly afterwards. Are you talking about a single or twin application?

I have the outrage 290 with opti 225's and have been real disappointed with the fuel burn. I'm raising the engines to the top hole hoping this may help. The rev 4 made a big difference in planning but at the expense of higher gph.

I say there might be a little higher fuel burn but it is somewhat insignificant. Maybe 1 gph or so. It might even be a tiny bit less under certain conditions. It is close enough that I haven't really noticed it. Considering the improved perfromance I would accept a slight increase with no complaints. I am going to look into 4 blade props this spring....that may change things.

I would look at the 300 Suzuki. I am repowering my Grady with this motor next month.
