This months Boating magazine has a review of the new Dauntless 200. It's not much more than the usual product endorsement drivel that this magazine is known for but it did show a new and interesting factory option, a polling platform that doubles as an elevated tow tower for wake booarding. To further exploit the concept, it can hold wakeboards strapped to it's sides or fishing poles in it's integrated rocket launchers. Seems like a great idea and it looked good in my opinion. |

I thought the poling platform was a really nice option and is well built, but the boat in my opion is very heavy to be poling around the flats. I would be interested to find out what owners of this boat think. |

That should be 200 Dauntless, not Dauntless 200. Man if I ever write a post here that doesn't require editing it will be a miracle. My first thought was no way would I want to be polling that thing with a full fuel tank, wind blowing etc. But the idea and design seems like a good one, they should offer it on some of the other smaller Legend series boats. |

You don't pole a 20 foot boat, not for long anyway. That is why they have a very nice option of a trolling motor panel/plug in the bow with dual batteries in the console. The platform has racks for skis or wakeboard, rodholders, and a ski tow. It would make a nice place to spot redfish cruising the flats, but is a bit small to cast from. BillS |

Boat reviews in boating magazines seem to be less than useful. They never find anything really wrong with any boat they review. Is this because the reviews are paid by the manaufacturers, or because they don't want to lose manufacturer's advertising revenue, or just plain incompetence? All of the above? |

I have a few opinions on and photographs of the 200 Dauntless. Find them in this article: http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/013633.html If you couldn't find anything wrong with this boat, as representative of a Boston Whaler and all that entails, you weren't looking. |
